Kylix - Mobile ordering for waiters

One of Kylix's main features is that it is mobile friendly. Using a QR code, it allows your waiters to access a web app from a mobile phone or tablet (or other mobile devices), from which they can easily take their orders at the tables.

Accessing the web app

You find the links to access the web app at the following section, by clicking on the three lines on the top right and then on "Kylix Mobile App":

By default you will see a generic link, which is also accessible via QR code. In addition to the generic link, you can select one of the waiters you have created to view his link and QR code:

↳ Useful Link: ZaK > Kylix > Overview

For more information on how to create your waiters and send them the link via sms/email/whatsapp, you can read the following article:

☞ Docs: Kylix - Waiters

Once they receive the link, waiters can save it on their device so that they always have it available and do not have to ask for it every time.

How the web app works

In the web app you will first see all your tables, divided into areas. By clicking on the arrow next to each area, you can hide it if you do not wish to view it.

Enter a service and/or an order

If a table is red colored, it means that it is already occupied. You will then find the time the service started and the number of people seated at the table. If there is the icon  as well, it means that the order has already been taken. If there is also the dollar icon, it means it has already been paid (fully or partially):

If the order has not been taken, you can click on the table and proceed to add dishes (see below how to do this). Once the order has been taken, the dish icon will appear on that table too. You can still click on the table to edit the order.

If a table is empty (not red) and you have guests arriving, you can click on it to register the service. You will be able to choose whether to add other tables in addition to the selected one and specify how many guests there are. And then save:

Now you can immediately add the dishes, if the guests already know what to order. First choose which menu you wish to use (you may have multiple menus active for that area):

Then you can add dishes using the + symbol. Below you will see a summary of your order, where you can increase/decrease the number of dishes using the + and - :

If your guests do not yet know what to order, you can save without adding dishes. You can still do this later by clicking on that table. Regardless of whether you add dishes or not, the service will be started and the start hour will appear on that table.

How to set the order of the dishes

When ordering, you can add the various dishes in pages #1, #2, #3, etc. to define in which order the food should be prepared and served. For example, I add pizzas in page #1 and save. Then I move to page #2, add the dessert and save. And so on.

If you add everything in page #1, it means that the dishes will be served all together.

Services and orders recorded in the web app will also be instantly reflected in the Overview, accessible from the browser. All you have to do is refresh the page (if you have already opened it).

Printing an order in the kitchen

When ordering, the waiter can print the order directly in the kitchen. To make this possible, first you must have purchased a thermal printer and configured it in the section below, helping with the specific documentation.

↳ Useful Link: ZaK > Settings > Configurations > Local Printing

☞ Docs: ZaK - Thermal printer configuration

At this point, before clicking on the final "CONFIRM" button, the waiter can click on the printer icon on the top right to print the full order. Or he can just click on the icon next to each single order, to print that order only:

By clicking on it, a print preview will open and you can choose which printer to use. Of course, you will have to choose the thermal printer that you have in your kitchen and that you have configured, so that the order will be printed directly in the kitchen.

What to do if I can't print?
